If you receive a ‘Connection Timed Out’ error when trying to connect to your Linux VPS, it indicates that the server timed out while attempting to establish a connection. The timeout can be caused by several different reasons.

Connection Timed Out

  1. Check if the server is active. If the server’s subscription has expired, you can continue using it by renewing the service. To check the server’s expiration and status information, you can follow the steps below.
  • Access the website www.fastpanda.co.uk
  • Click on the “Sign In” button on the opened page, enter your customer panel information, and click the “Log in” button to log in to your account.

  • Click on the “VPS Server” option in the left menu.

  • On the opened page, you will see your existing VPS packages. You can check the “Expiry Date” and “Status” of the server that gave you the ‘Connection timed out’ error.

Expiry Date and Status

2. If the server has an active status and the expiry date is valid, you should check whether the server is running. You can follow the steps below to verify.

  • Click the ‘Manage Product’ button next to the server where you received the ‘Connection timed out’ error.

  • If the ‘Server Status’ is ‘Stopped,’ it is likely that you will encounter an error. Click the ‘Start VPS’ button to bring the server back online.

  • The server will be up and running shortly. You can check access again.

3. If your server is active and running but you are still receiving the error, check whether you have entered the correct server IP address. You can verify this by checking the IP Address section in the server management page.

4. The server port number is 22 by default. If you haven’t made any changes, make sure the port number is correct. If you are unsure about the port number, you can also check if you can access the server using the “Browser Terminal” available in the Customer Panel, just in case.

5. Unstable or slow connections on the user’s side are a common cause of SSH timeouts. Additionally, the modem or internet provider may occasionally block port 22. To test, you can try connecting from a different network (such as your phone’s internet).

If you continue to receive the “Connection timed out” error after following the above steps, you can try reaching out to our technical team to check if there is any other underlying issue.
